Game Thread / Preview: MAAC-AE Challenge (sprinkled with a little CAA)
It is BracketBusters Weekend. However, UnRankedAE is going to rename it the MAAC-AE Challenge. That is because out of the nine games this weekend for the AE, six will be against the MAAC Conference. Two games, including what I think will be the premier game of the day, will be against the Colonial Athletic Association (Stony Brook vs. Northeastern; Towson vs. UNH). Here is a breakdown of some of the games set for the day. Boston U. will be taking on Loyola-MD tomorrow afternoon. When it is all said and done, I'm predicting either 6-3 or 5-4 for the AE. If the conference goes below .500...ouch!
Stony Brook vs. Northeastern - 1 P.M.
The game looked sexy when it was announced. However, Northeastern has lost four of their last five games and sit 8-8 in conference play and 12-14 overall. In two games against the AE this year (BU and Vermont), the Huskies just pulled off victories. Now they play a Stony Brook team coming off a bad loss to Vermont. The Seawolves could be out for blood.
Niagara vs. Vermont - 2 P.M.
A game the AE really can't and should not lose. Niagara just got passed Canisius in OT (last place team in the MAAC) earlier in the week. The Purple Eagles won by only three against Hartford earlier in the season. However, with the talent level Niagara has, it should be a fun game to watch. I expect an epic battle between Four McGlynn and Juan'ya Green, two insanely talented freshman guards.
More BracketBusters Preview after the jump
Binghamton vs. Radford - 4 P.M.
"The Streak" is at 26 games now. This could be the Bearcats last chance to pull out a victory. Bingo has UAlbany, Vermont and UNH to end the season. Radford is 5-23 and dead last in the Big South.
Rider vs. UAlbany - 7 P.M.
Will Brown has made it clear that when it comes to BracketBusters, unless it is a TV game, it is just another game. Great Dane fans would love to see a victory, but may not be upset if they don't get one. This game has become extremely useless to fans because of injuries. UA will be without Logan Aronhalt and Luke Devlin. Gerardo Suero has been cleared after an illness, but may not be 100%. Look for some major playing time from bench players.
Other Games Today:
Marist vs. Maine, 2 P.M.
UMBC vs. Canisius, 2 P.M.
Hartford vs. St. Peter's, 2 P.M.
Towson vs. New Hampshire, 3 P.M.

Big night for Rowley and Ralph Watts is my prediction.
Ugly slate though. Feel for UVM, should be getting a TV game or at least higher level comp game.

Karma?
UVM has gotten TV games for several years when maybe we didn’t deserve them (see: last year, though we ended up earning it between the time it was announced and the game happened). LIke I said, who effing cares. Is this game the difference between a 16 seed or the first four? which one is better?

Heard through the grapevine...
Suero won’t be going tonight. Not at all positive on that one, but a buddy of mine spoke to him and that’s what he said.
Rugg!
Where else you going to get 15 and 12 from a sophomore walk-on?
