Game Thread: Stony Brook @ Vermont (Or, The Battle For That Top Spot)
After AdamNPeck delivered his brilliant-as-usual game preview, I decided it was time to go a different route. Yes, folks, you get to read my top ten list of "Things I'd Rather Do Than Watch Vermont Lose to Stony Brook Again".
As always, let us know your thoughts on the game as it unfolds on CBS Sports Network! Oh, wait, nobody gets that channel? Well, I guess this is why 101.3 exists.
"Things I'd Rather Do Than Watch Vermont Lose to Stony Brook Again" after the jump!
Things I'd Rather Do Than Watch Vermont Lose to Stony Brook Again
(Lists are always better when they count down. I learned this from VH1).
10. Spend an evening talking basketball with Ted Woodward.
9. Play a nationally televised game of 1-on-1 with Gerardo Suero. (I would get a lot of open looks, but I have a feeling it would not end well for me).
8. Forfeit all of Vermont's regular season crowns (as if they matter).
7. Jump off the Quechee Gorge.
6. Be Brent Wilson during that glorious moment. (If you're thinking, "wait, Buster, you would love to have Blakely's crotch in your face!", then my answer is: no comment).
5. Play for Binghamton.
4. Live within a 50 mile radius of Boston. (I would change this to a 50 mile radius of Massachusetts, but that takes up about a third of Vermont).
3. Scramble for a loose ball, only to have Dallis Joyner, Tommy Brenton, Ben Crenca and Brian Voelkel fall on my head, all at once.
2. Live in New Hampshire.
1. Attend Stony Brook.
That's right folks, I would actually enroll at Stony Brook University before I would watch them beat the Vermont Catamounts at basketball.
Game time!

Shades of BU
Two weeks ago, in Stony Brook’s W over BU, the Terriers made EVERYTHING for the first 10 minutes of the game. Stony Brook hung in there, never letting it get out of hand…sounds familiar.
Yeah
Defense and rebounding, over and over and over again

recap
It was loud.
Stony Brook played 7-8 minutes of intense basketball in the latter part of the first half. Other than that; the Seawolves mailed it in.
That simple.
Dougher was smothered by Carissimo.
Four! was left open constantly.
Vermont had no answer for Joyner……and then he quit, too.
Catamount Faithful had better not get cocky. The Brookies that didn’t show up to play in the Gymlet today aren’t the same squad they’ll see in the playoffs.
Warning to Brookie Fans: Your guys may have peaked too soon.
And to anyone who gives a shit: the bleachers in Patrick are the most uncomfortable seats lacking upright nails. Awful. I’m one geezer who hates that place.
four!!!!
And even your boy Brenton quit? Seems bizarre

Honestly, MRG, Brenton is not the same athlete he was prior to the injury. He played hard but Voelkel outmuscled him more than once. He was no Al Rapier today. Nor was he Tommy Brenton of 2009-10.
