Game Thread / Preview: Adios 2011 and Non-Conference Play
We says goodbye to 2011 and welcome in 2012 later this evening. However, before that, the AE will finish off non-conference play with four afternoon games. Sit back, relax, and hopeful the conferences finishes with a bang instead of a thud.
Boston U. vs. Quinnipiac - 12 p.m.
Quinnipiac is 2-0 against the AE this season. However, in both victories (vs. Hartford and Vermont), AE teams have played them tough. The key for a Boston victory will be shutting down Boston native Ike Azotam. He is averaging a little over 16 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. BU hopefully looked at the game film against UVM, in which he scored only 8 points. However, Azotam has scored 74 total points in the last three games for the Bobcats (shooting over 50% from the field in all three games). BU is limping into non-conference play, having lost five straight.
Colgate vs. New Hampshire - 1 p.m.
UNH plays there final non-conference home game today, taking on Colgate. The Raiders are 1-1 against the AE this season, but were nearly defeated by Binghamton at the beginning of the season. Expect low scoring, as both rank above 250th in the nation in scoring.
The key to the game will be rebounding. Nick Pascale in the leading rebounder for the Raiders, averaging only 5.9 rebounds per game. If senior Brian Benson can control the paint for the Wildcats and force second chance opportunities, the Wildcats could run away.
Hartford vs. La Salle - 2 p.m.
La Salle is ranked in the Top 100 in the nation in scoring and are 6-0 at home. Hartford can’t score. The End...by halftime.
UAlbany vs. Mount St. Mary's - 3:30 p.m.
UAlbany finishes their Maryland swing with a trip to Mount St. Mary’s. However, the Danes can’t sleep on this 2-10 team. They are coming off a victory against America (1st in the Patriot League) and only lost to Maryland 77-74 in early December. However, they are one of the worst teams in the nation in scoring and rebounding. Despite being 3-3 in December, UAlbany is playing some of its best basketball in recent games. If the team hits its shots, they should be fine. Plus, with this Maryland team, you don’t have to worry about a 7’1’’ center from blocking you.

UNH & Albany rolling today
Suero higher scorer, I’d take Hartford getting 15, and I wonder if BU with remain a soulless voice with DJ out…

Open Question
Would Suero be Partin without Black……?

No.
Black doesn’t create for Suero. Suero gets to the line and is constantly on attack where as Partin seemingly enjoys 0-6 nights from three. Completely different mentalities.

Partin staring out well at bu up 5
But wouldn’t this be the perfect time to establish hazel inside? Showed flashes early since then all garbage man points

BU vs. Quinnipiac
Watching end of this game, BU will lose. Partin is clearly a scorer, but I agree with MRG, playing inside-out, especially without Irving, would seem to be the way to go. Partin needs easier shots, and without Irving, that’s hard! Poor 2nd half for BU, this was a winnable game for them/AE….
looks like albany #2 guys is doing play-by-play solo tonight
I like it. “Blake Metcalf with a look of disbelieve and it looks like he’s just been told he’s not on the team anymore” after a foul
