Game Thread / Preview - MSG, Long Island and the MAAC on the slate for AE
A very slow week in the conference. However, we have six games going today. WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS!
Stony Brook vs. Rutgers - 12 p.m.
The game will be played at MSG as part ofthe MSG Holiday Festival. For those who have it, it will be shown on MSG+. The Seawolves are 1-3 in their last four games, but two of the loses have come by five points or less. Gilvydas Biruta is the major threat from the Scarlet Knights. The Lithuanian sophomore is averaging 11.4 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game. Both team are about even in scoring this season, but the Seawolves rebounding could be a big difference, as they are ranked in the Top 100 in the nation. Could be a good day for Dallis Joyner and Tommy Brenton to shine.
Marist vs. New Hampshire - 1 p.m.
Could be a big day for Brian Benson. Marist is one of the worst rebounding teams in the nation, while UNH is in the Top 100 in the nation in rebounding. If Benson can lead the charge down low and Alvin Abreu can hit his shots (which he clearly had issues with against Fairfield), it could be a good day for the Wildcats.
Iona vs. Vermont - 1.p.m.
Another tough home match-up for the Catamounts. Iona is 8-2 and continues to be a heavy favorite to win the MAAC this season. Senior Michael Glover has been on a tear this season, nailing down almost 20 points per game and grabbing just shy of 8.5 rebounds per game. The Vermont D will have to bring their A-game today. The Gaels have one of the Top 5 offenses in the nation.
UAlbany vs. Cornell - 2 p.m.
This is the third match-up against the America East for the Big Red. They have already beaten Binghamton and Boston and play Stony Brook on December 28th. Senior Chris Wroblewski has been the leader for Cornell all season. If the Great Danes can shut him down, it could be a fun day in upstate NY. However, the Great Danes are 0-4 on the road this season and have not played since December 7th. Not the best combination going against a good Cornell squad.
Binghamton vs. Hofstra - 4 p.m.
Binghamton continues to go for their first win of the season. This could be a solid match-up for the Bearcats. The Pride have lost four straight, which includes a loss to Boston in late November. More on this game at 3:45 pm as we are LIVE from the Mack Sports Complex.
Rider vs. UMBC - 7 p.m.
Two teams at a combined 2-18. The Retrievers will have to shutdown Daniel Stewart if they want to pull away from the Broncs. Rider can score, so the UMBC offense is going to need to get going earlier.

Forgot to mention about the Vermont game today...
Vermont will retire former Catamount Trevor Gaines’ #45 today. Motivation baby!
definitely check OBW for more on that
Sam Perkins of OBW with special connection to Trevor.

Nice end to the half
12-4 run and down only 5. Not bad since they didn’t score for 8 minutes at one point.
cpl threes from do-er and rouse to close it out
some coley and brenton work inside

Marist out to a 10-2 lead on UNH
things looking like it may turn out “wonderful” for the conference today
Gaines magic from up above?
11-0 lead for UVM against a very good Iona team.
zone
Why in the world would you play zone against the Cats if you’re Iona? Never like that move when you’re athletically superior
31-25 UNH nearing the half
Myrick playing strong for the Wildcats
29-26 UVM with around 5 minutes to go in 1st half
McGlynn is 3 for 7 from the field. 2 for 4 from three point range.
UNH goes into the locker room up 31-26
not bad, especially since they started the game down 10-2
No let up
Vermont is really answering the bell. Everytime Iona looks like they’re gonna just go on a run to put it away Vermont answers.

Watch. 66-65 Iona after the last media timeout.
73-72 Iona
They have ball, 39.2 left. Something like 28 on the shot clock. One timeout left for Vermont. Do you foul?
